As neither of us had thought to pack waterproofs or umbrellas, (um did I want outfit ruining- no) a rainy Friday in NYC saw Lucy and I take a break from our usual wanderings around neighbourhoods in favour of a museum day.

We got up bright and early and headed to MOMA, a place I have actually never been to before due to my mother's general distaste for any sort of art thats prefixed with modern. (Side note I have, on countless occassions, tried to tell her shes confusing modern with contemporary when she whines about people placing boxes in the middle of a white room and call it art, but as of yet to no avail).

Quite honestly the first thing I was impressed by was the efficiency of their automatic ticket system, I didn't even have to put my pin in. I knew at that minute we had made the right choice in going to moma. The first actual exhibit we saw was Louise Bourgeois' Spiders. I have actually seen this spider before, I think it was outside Canada's national gallery once (is that not the most middle class scentence you've ever read?).This time it was interesting to see it with her other work, I was actually really impressed by her process behind the whole thing.

Next we went upstairs to floor two, and neither of us were particularly inspired by it- not to sound like my mother- but it was a bit too abstract for me. We quickly moved onwards and upwards until we came to the CLASSIC floor. I have to say the A-level art within me came out and I think I got a bit too excited....

I mean you've got to start of with a solid Picasso, nothing out of the odinary- just a solid fine art base (also that one with all the prostitutes in was there and it was actually huge I didn't expect that).

not going to lie I did actually let out a litle yelp when I saw the magritte stuff- having used his work to inspire my art final piece I feel like I now know him on a personal level. My boy Rene and his briliantly mad paintings.

Again another artist I did to death in a level art, good old Oldenburg -another piece I just didn't expect to be so massive.. It was huge (and funky I rate his work).

A cheeky metaphysical appearence from not just one DeChirico but an entire ROOM of them- possibly my favourite artist ever, you may guess I ot very excited once again.

Also appearences from Kandinsky, Braques, Francis Bacon, Monet and Cezanne were grealy appreciated- I think I actually stepped on a child in my excitement to see Picture with an archer (why am I like this).

Also starry night was there - it was average. I don't think that Van Gogh bloke will catch on.
