Rumours suggest that Kim Jones is leaving Louis Vuitton, in order to head to Burberry?
As designer for the men's collection, Jones has worked wonders in recent years transforming the brand's identity. Although I'm not a fan of what the 2017 supreme collaboration has gone on to become- I have to commend the incentives behind it. Streetwear is a macro trend, its here to stay (even if hypebeast 12 year olds in supreme box logos try their hardest to ruin it for us all).

It would make sense for Jones to head to Burberry next, a dying British brand, stuck trying to produce clothes to please the Tatler elite and its sympathisers. This contuniation of outdated 'british' style, comes at a time when its vintage designs are being adopted by streetwear enthusiasts and clubbers across the country. Perhaps if the rumours are true Jones will attempt to capture this changing attitude towards Burberry and steer the brand in that direction.
I am dissapointed about Jones leaving LV, they were beginning to become exciting again after a bit of a dull period (in my opinion). Kim managed to esablish its menswear brand as a global player, using the failsafe formula of casual meets luxury. To me its his focus on research that makes his work so interesting- being the son of a Geologist he travelled often, and to me you can really see that global influence in many of his designs. I mean the travel is always going to be worth while when youve got a multimillion dollar company like LV footing the expenses. Maybe thats a career path I need to look into? Maybe in this ever globalising world it is Jones's globabl experience that has allowed the brand to become a global player (unlike Burberry which has stayed pokey and small by resting on its Britishness).
Whether or not Jones ends up at Burberry, I'm very excited to see where his skills and passion end up and what they do.
