Slimane is taking over the house, in the role of creative director after Phoebe Philo announced her departure last year, which is SUPER exciting (thats not even sarcastic although it appears it). Perhaps the most exciting news is his intentions of creating a mens line, abit step for the LVMH owned brand. Slimlane is no change to expanding Homme lines, he brought Dior Homme to the fore, and by 2007 has popularised the skinny silhouette in mens tailoring.
It is true that in her time at Celine, Philo managed to turn a relatively unexciting

brand into a powerhouse- a commendable feat. The iconic and immediately recognisable Celine ad-campaign involving the cut outs against the coloured background has trickled down to inspire many an A-level photography project. Over the last 10 years Phoebe has worked wonders with the brand- yet seemed to fail to keep up with the rapidly expanding tech world, which makes me wonder how damaging the lack of online presence has been?
Hopefully Slimane can work to rectify this, there is apparently plans to expand Celine's online shopping opportunities- which I can imagine can only be beneficial for the brand in a time where lets be real here- everyone- even my Grandma shops online.
Overall Im really excited to see what Hedi does with the brand- and where the next decade or so takes us.
