This is probably going to be a lengthy post, this is my own take on a monthly favourites post - some sections may be more weighty than others depending on my mood for the month, but I'm hoping this will make an interesting little document of how my tastes evolve as the year goes on.
Watching
I've not done much watching this month having been super busy with New York and final hand in. Although saying that, much like the rest of the UK, I did manage to binge watch the entire series of End Of the F*****g world on Netflix, in a single night- I like to blame the jet lag for that one. I adored the sound trakc and the general vibe of the whole show but I have to say the ending was SUCH a let down- I can only hope theres another series to rectify that.
I've really got into Derry Girls on Channel 4 on a Thursday night- its only half an hour but I think its well worth a watch for a bit of comic relief. Set in 90's Derry it utilises its bleakness and position as a coming of age comedy really well, plus some of the outfits are well worth watching for.
Wearing
After going back to my home wardrobe over christmas I've become re inspired by a shedload of my old clothes so this should be lonnnnng section.

This coat, which I got for christmas and is literally the cosiest thing ever (its also the last fast fashion item that will be entering my wardrobe for the forseeable future).
My trusty blue wash mom jeans, these arent a new edition but I lost a bit of weight over christmas and they look less tragic on.

My new CLEAN christmas present air force ones after my old ones got a bit too worse for wear after too many sticky dance floors (RIP) and have now been resigned to Ocean shoes.
These trousers, which I bought into summer and rarely wore, theyve now been given a new lease of life and i love them with all my heart. They make me feel like Wee Willy winky, and thats always a bonus.

This hat which I managed to get for ONLY 9 dollars, which is like 6 quid and plus it makes me look like if steve Zissou was to go hiking in the andes. An amazing combo (also can we appreciate the fact that I got a whole litre of diet coke from five guys for £3 and managed to consume it within 15 mins).

THESE TROUSERS, they were only £2.50 from a charity shop. The may look like pyjamas but I revel in it.
Also brought my age old 70's shirt back to uni and I wear it more than i'd care to admit.

These earrings, they got complimented by a real life new yorker and thats something i'll take to my grave with me.

My beret, you can never be uncheered by a beret, although its something i may reserve for new york and other major fashion capitals, when in Nottingham it seems to look tragic. Have yet to try it in Newcastle I may give it a go and report back.

This jumper. This jumper always gets a mention.

Right this is going to be a weird one- I've even suprised myself with it, but I've properly got into astrology lately??
In true January blues style I've been having a bit of a meltdown filled month, I've started religously checking Cafe Astrology in order to blame all my problems on the alingment of the stars, which thus far seems to be working a treat. However rational (cynical) normal me is, it would seem January's events have propelled me into a state of spirituality. (That and I seem to be addicted to keeping tabs on people I have a special interest in by reading their horoscopes, as if somehow I'll gain some insight into their lives???).
Anyway moving on from that bout of oversharing onto proably another one....
Listening to
with 109 songs in my January playlist, it looks like this may be a long section.
My absolute FAVOURITE in January has been Father John Misty, it took me ages to get into his music but something recently clicked and I can't stop listening. I don't even know how to describe his music (Google calls it indie rock but that just doesn't do the big man justice) its just good good stuff. I'd recommend listening to Holy Shit first and working your way towards I've been learning to love the war because that song just gets me everytime, in a good way...?
Again in January blues mega depressing style I've been reall back into Eliott Smith, namely Alemeda and Between the Bars, not uplifting at all I'm aware but perfectly fitting for how January seems to have gone (self pity central over here). Ben Howard, Angel Olsen and Sufjan Stevens also seem to have made an appearence, I clearly have revelled in WALLOWING this month.
On a more uplifting note I've been getting back into electronic and other proper dancey music, in the hopes it'll make me feel all summery and festivally,so I can pretend its not dark wet and minus 10000000 degrees outside. Bicep, Fatima Yamaha, Ross From Friends, Four Tet, Bonobo and Jon Hopkins have all seemed to have crept back into my library, and seem to be working their summery magic. (ALSO I booked parklife tickets so thats something to keep me going on the darkest of nights).
Rejjie Snow's Annie EP has been doing bits, his dabble in French really adds something, I can never not be won over by a bit of French in a song.
Again going for the throwback option this month, I've been listening to a lot of Alvvay's 2014 album, which in my humble opinion is a darnsight better than their 2017 release, this Alvvays loving segwayed into Tops and Warpaint both making their way into the playlist. GIRL POWER.
Thats bascially it for notable music this month, aside from the token abba appearence - this month belongs to

amazing.
Doing
January seemed to last an age, with the obvious trip to New York being a key feature, it seemed to peak at that, having been thrown back into uni hard with the finishing of our first summative brief taking presidence for the rest of the month- followed by some hard core relaxing. I'm afraid this section is somewhat lacking in any interesting content.
Thats january out, heres to a bigger and better febuary!!!!!!!!!
